Monday, July 21

The first day we did many team building activities. The students were given a sheet of peculiar characteristics and then had to find someone else with that characteristic and get their autograph. The first one finished received two tickets to a
Phoenix Mercury game. Students then took a visit to the Student Recreation Center to participate in a low ropes.

Tuesday, July 22

Today we visited the
Center for Solid State Science were Dr. Mike McKelvy conducted several experiments. For example, students viewed common germs found on their own fingers using an electronic microscope. Cindy Deherrera from the Pennysaver came in and spoke about layout and advertising. The students all made their own advertisements. 

Wednesday, July 23

Karen Ammerman of Career Development at ASU came to speak to the kids about job preparation and the evolving work force. Students were given information relating to the most sought after jobs and how to receive them. 

Thursday, July 24

Dr. Ron Dorn of
ASU's Physical Geography department gave a sample college lecture to the group regarding monsoons. Students were given an example of note-taking and also many methods for successful test-taking.

Friday, July 25 

Dr. Pert conducted a lesson in the salsa garden on campus, which students from last spring planted. Students were exposed to such technology as the
Apple E-mate 300 and the E-Probe in order to take surface temperature and plant temperature.  In addition, students went on a tour of the State Press, ASU's school newspaper.
