Summer 2007 - Over 80 students participated in
the Conexiones Summer Media Literacy
Institute. Two one-week institutes
were offered utilizing the ASU West and ASU Polytechnic campuses.
The students learned how to understand and create media while improving

April 29 - May 2, 2007 - The Conexiones student
reporters participated in the National
Association of State Directors of Migrant Education Conference in
Phoenix, Arizona. The reporters created a slide show and video for
the opening keynote session, and interviewed the participants and
created a video for the closing session. Watch

March 12 - 14, 2007 - The Conexiones student reporters
partnered with the alt^I new media group to host Podcasting Central.
The students interviewed speakers and exhibitors during the three
day MEC 2007 conference. Listen

Summer 2006 - Conexiones students expanded their
technology skills into a new area - digital performance. Luke Dorsett
taught a one week session that included an overview of Garage Band,
Photoshop, and Arkaos. Luke is a practicing artist who utilizes these
tools in performances throughout the Southwest. Students
learned how to compose original music, manipulate photographs and
graphics in Photoshop and create a digital masterpiece with Arkaos.

Summer 2006 - Conexiones staff in partnership with
ASSET offered
a series of workshops to teachers working with migrant students.
The teachers learned about writing through photography, Photoshop,
digital storytelling and animation.
April
21 - 22, 2006- Connexiones students participated in
the The Southwest Regional Youth Leadership Conference, organized
by the Center for Community Change. The conference will be bringing
together an estimated 175 youth from immigrant and refugee rights
groups from throughout the Southwest to Phoenix, Arizona from April
21-23, 2006. The focus of this conference is on skill-building
and youth organizing for immigrant and refugee rights!
March 11 - 13 1006 - Mi Vida Nuestra Vida a short film on immigration
premiered at the MEC conference as a part of a larger exhibition
of student work. The movie explores the issue of immigration through
a variety of viewpoints, the rest of the exhibition included student
photography, digital stories, videos and writing.
Spring 2006 - Conexiones Students Interview Congressman
Ed Pastor. The Conexiones student's had the privilege of interviewing
Ed Pastor, Congressmen from the 4th District of Arizona. The topic
of the discussion is immigration. More >
March 11 - 13 1006 - The
Conexiones students were a big part of
the MEC 2006 conference at ASU. Serving
as Student reporters they interviewed the
keynote speakers, vendors and attended
presentations.
March 2, 2006 - Conexiones student Ernesto
Farfan has been named Boys & Girls
Clubs of the East Valley 2006-2007 East
Valley Youth of the Year. Ernesto was chosen
based on his outstanding work in the community,
and at Hamilton High school where he excels
in the classroom and on the soccer field
His plans for next year include attending

January 2 - 5, 2006 - The Conexiones leadership
team participated in an intensive media camp at ASU to expand their
skills and prepare for the MEC conference. View
