2006 - Conexiones Leadership Academy
The goals of the leadership academy
were to prepare for Conexiones participation in the MEC
conference, learn some exciting new applications, and have
fun. By looking at the blog from this week it is clear that
all three goals were met.
Fall
2005 - Mi Vida • Nuestra Vida
This fall students built on their knowledge
of digital storytelling to develop content for the march
debut of the interactive exhibit - Mi Vida • Nuestra
Vida - a look at the complex lives of migrants in Arizona.
Summer
2005 - Literacy through Photography
Writing is a critical skill for student success, but getting
today's "digital" students emersed in the writing
process is often difficult. This summer we used the fields
of photography/videography and storytelling to capture student
interest in writing.
Winter
2005, Digital Storytelling - Student Portfolios
Digital storytelling meshes the age old art of storytelling
with technology. Video and audio allows students to explore
their life, and the lives of their family. This session
introduced students to the concepts and provided training
in the tools of the trade

Summer:2000 Videos
In the summer 2000 program, students learned to convey
information effectively, to interpret situations insightfully,
and to express their ideas through the application of advanced
digital video production and post-production techniques.
Approaches of the traditional broadcast and cable medium
as well as the emerging field of internet video distribution
are explored. A major emphasis of this course was student
participation in writing, producing, directing, and electronically
editing a video production, along with meaningful criticism
and analysis of a variety of video products.
Summer
1999
This summer students from around Arizona were given the
opportunity to participate in the Conexiones Lego Engineers,
Inc. program. Lego Engineers, Inc. is a technology based
training program, developed at ASU, which provides students
with the practical real life experience of working with
a variety of electronic media resources to research, develop,
program, evalutate, market and synthesize information pertaining
to the development of an autonomous Lego robot.
Spring 1998- The Mesa Program
This spring students from the Mathematics-Engineering-Science-Achievement
(MESA) Program took part in a one hour LEGO Robotics
workshop. Take a look at some video

Fall 1998
This fall students had the chance to design, build and program
Lego Programmable Robots. There were two groups of students
this year from various parts of the Phoenix Metropolitan

Our goal is to help students develop critical thinking and
bilingual literacy skills through the deconstruction of
verbal, visual and auditory messages in the media.
Fall
1997
We continue on the success of this past summers newspaper
teaching. View some of the students artwork

Summer
1997
Students created their
first
on-line newspaper. The students
also developed a print version of the newspaper using Pagemaker.
We also participated in a variety of exciting activities
and tours ranging from the Mars Thermal Emissions Project
to the Nelson Fine Arts Museum. We have posted a day by
day explanation of what
