During the summer of 2007, eighty-four 7th-12th grade migrant students from eight Arizona school districts participated in the Conexiones Migrant Youth Summer Program. The program was implemented over a two-week period, one week each at the ASU West and ASU Polytechnic campuses.

The summer program included: students
1) professional development to teach program staff media production skills and introduce the curriculum; 2) small group instruction for students on media literacy, interviewing, storyboarding, principles of photography and video production; 3) student produced media projects; 4) project presentations; and 5) a media presentation for parents and families.

Students created individual photographic essays exploring their identity and joined groups to create videos based on the themes: "We Are..." and "We Believe..."

The projects allowed students to improve traditional literacy skills through researching, writing and presenting. The students also gained digital literacy skills in the areas of video and photography.

iCademy Film and Photography Festival

This year the iCademy Video and Photography Program seeks to create a quilt of personal Arizona stories that provide a unique personal perspective on Arizona history.

The iCademy Program offers a unique project-based learning experience for arizona students and teachers. The goal of the program is to encourage diverse groups of students to enter into a statewide multimedia dialogue about Arizona. Working individually (photographic essay) or in teams of two to five (Digital Story), students in third grade through high school have the opportunity to capture the stories of Arizona.
